One morning, Gerry got up very early to see if he could get some decent photos of a sunrise. He found a convenient hill overlooking our part of town, and waited for enough light to get some photos. Part of what he saw, as it got light enough to see, was that the hills were covered in mist before dawn. This isn't unusual in the Bay Area, but he'd never seen it follow the terrain so closely. We've since learned that this isn't at all unusual. You just have to get up early to see it.
