Living in the Golden State:

Front of the rented house

This was within the first week of arrival, but not the first day. The reason is that there are two cars here, although both still have Connecticut plates. The blue Saturn was shipped, rather than trying to drive two cars all the way across the country.

We noticed the cracked concrete and figured that was just old, not that it was cracked because of earthquakes. Well, in early November, we were no longer sure of that, as there was a newly discovered fault under this town that rocked everything around for a few days. We now know that at about 3.9 on the Richter scale, the handles on one dresser start banging on the drawers. Good to know (?).
